The weather outside is amazing, and I hope everyone is excited to get out there and serve! There are so many fun service project that can easily be done out in the sun. All you have to do is grab a couple of friends and pick a project!
Key Club and the service that goes with it is commonly seen as a school-year only activity, as it may be easier to get together with friends and organize meetings during the months of school. However, there are so many opportunities out there for you and your club! Doing service projects around your community and having a couple fun meetings is a great excuse to hang out with friends and fill your summer with volunteering. Here are a couple ideas to get you started:
- Alex’s Lemonade Stand http://www.alexslemonade.org/
- Car wash
- School supply drive for homeless shelter
- Volunteer at your local Habitat for Humanity
- Pack lunches for the homeless
- Hold a 5k run/walk
- Yard work for seniors in the community
- Litter clean up day in parks, ditches, near the highway
- Bake sale
All you have to do is get creative! Take advantage of the extra time and beautiful weather you will have this summer for service in your community, and enjoy Key Club all year round! Also don’t forget to post all of the pictures and service ideas on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #SummerService to share all your fun projects!
