Every year, the District Governor chooses a project for the district to participate in. This year, the Governor’s project will be “Literacy for Life”, and we will directly work with Reach out and Read Minnesota. Reach out and Read Minnesota aims to strengthen families with young children through guidance from clinicians about nurturing relationships through shared reading. With over 300+ partner clinics across Minnesota, clinicians trained in their program give books to children, as well as developmental guidance to parents and caregivers at the child’s routine visits. This gives children and families the resources and knowledge they need to build a better future.
The overall goal of the Governor’s project “Lit for Life” is to increase awareness of literacy rates in children. It encourages Key Clubbers across the district to expand their knowledge on an important topic like this by working with young children and participating in service projects.
